|
||
| 1st - 8th | HP over western UK. Hazy sunshine 1st and 2nd, trailing end of a weak cold front brings a cloudy and cool day on the 3rd. Brighter but still a notable wind chill on the 4th. Much warmer with near unbroken sunshine on 5th through the 7th. More cloud around on the 8th as the HP slips westward and weakens. |
| 9th - 15th | HP starts to drift eastward. More cloudy from the 9th to 12th with mist lasting until midday on the 13th. Notably warm on the weekend 14th/15th with near unbroken hazy sunshine. The 15th became the warmest April day at this site since recording began in 1984. |
| 24th - 31st | HP still dominant over N Europe. Thundery showers overnight on 26th brings a series of 25 rainless days to an end, with further light rain from a warm front crossing the channel from east to west. By the 28th HP lies to the NE of the UK. |

| ‡ SUN: Sunshine hours are calculated approximately and solely from solar radiation readings, but note that the solar sensor's exposure to sunshine is rather limited. The sensor receives approx 75% of total possible sunshine exposure this month, and there is no allowance for sunshine by visual observation only, so the figures above can be very significantly less than the actual daily sunshine duration. |
| Barometer trend (previous 3 hours) : f = falling, st = steady, r = rising; q = quickly, s = slowly |
