The sensor receives less than 60% of total possible sunshine exposure this month, and there is no allowance for sunshine by visual observation only, so the figures above can be very significantly less than the actual daily sunshine duration.

1st
HP 1037 hPa NW of Finisterre, LP 991 hPa western Norway. A bright and mainly sunny morning, becoming more cloudy after midday with just a few short sunny intervals. A spell of light rain starting late in the night just before midnight.
2nd
Light rain continues overnight, briefly. Another spell of heavier rain around 05.00 with some drizzle clearing by 08.00. A cloudy day with a few brief sunny intervals, brighter in the afternoon but high cloud all day makes the sunshine weak.
3rd
LP 1015 hPa Central England, a mass of fronts over and around the UK. A short spell of light rain and drizzle in the early hours. A mainly overcast day with just two brief sunny intervals in the middle part of the day.
4th
A rather dull morning with intermittent light drizzle. Brightening up for a time in late afternoon with some sunshine.
5th
Easter Sunday. A fairly cloudy morning although bright at times. Cloud breaking up more after midday to give some sunny spells especially in the latter part of the afternoon.
6th
HP 1035 hPa southern Ireland. Two long spells of sunshine in the morning separated by a cloudy spell. More cloudy in the afternoon but breaks in the cloud allow plenty of sunny intervals.
7th
Clear sky to start but becoming cloudy by 07.30 and is slow to clear during the middle of the morning. Long spells of sunshine develop from late morning but rather hazy at times.
8th
Extensive medium height cloud throughout the day which breaks now and then to give some sunny spells mainly in the morning. Very hazy with levels of air pollution rising.
9th
A foggy start with visibility below 200m first thing. Fog and mist slowly clears after 10.15 to give a long sunny spell. Some cloud in the afternoon but also some fairly long sunny spells with haze persisting all day.
10th
Sunny until 08.30 when high cloud pushed in from the SSW. The cloud thickens from time to time but despite this the temperature rises quickly in late morning. Some sunny spells and intervals from the middle of the day but once again with a strong haze thoughout.
11th
LP 966 hPa Iceland. Short lived early brightness gives way to cloud and rain from a cold front in mid morning. This clears in late morning to give some long sunny spells but feeling much fresher.
12th
Sunny periods throughout the day but with some patchy thin high cloud during early morning and late afternoon and rather breezy.
13th
A cloudy morning and a little dull at times, brightening in the afternoon with sunny intervals and spells of hazy sunshine later.
14th & 15th
Unbroken sunshine with just some very thin and patchy high cirrus cloud now and again.
16th
Sunny spells in the morning but becoming more cloudy in the afternoon with a couple of brief and light rain showers.
17th
A fine and bright day with some long sunny spells.
18th
A sunny start although some cloud develops in mid-morning. The cloud gradually disappears to give a long sunny period in the afternoon.
19th
A cloudy but bright morning, cloud breaks up in the afternoon to give some sunny spells.
20th & 21st
HP 1038 hPa Ireland & 1037 hPa NE England. Sunny, a little hazy at times with thin high cloud but mostly clear.
22nd
Early cloud clears to give a bright morning with sunny spells. An area of cloud moves in from the North Sea during the middle of the day but breaks in mid-afternoon to give more sunny spells and finally clears in early evening.
23rd
A cloudy start, clearing a little after 10.00 to give uninterrupted sunshine to sunset.
24th
Misty at first clearing to give spells of hazy sunshine from mid-morning. Thicker cloud pushes in from the west in late afternoon.
25th
A spell of light rain in the early hours with another short spell of rain in mid-morning. Brightening to give sunny spells before becoming cloudy in late afternoon.
26th
Outbreaks of rain in the morning, clearing by 10.00. Staying overcast all day and dull at times, feeling cool.
27th
A bright day with plenty of patchy cloud but allowing some sunny spells, becoming more cloudy in the middle part of the afternoon.
28th
Another largely fine day, clear and sunny to start with well broken cloud developing in mid-morning which still allows some long sunny spells.
29th
LP 1000 hPa NE Scotland. Cloudy to start with a spell of light rain in mid-morning. A spell of heavier rain from a cold front in the middle of the day which clears to give sunny intervals and a heavy rain shower with thunder in the vicinity later.
30th
A clear and sunny start, with cloud developing by mid-morning. Sunny spells in the afternoon despite fairly extensive cloud, and a brief but heavy rain shower at 16.00 giving way to more sunny intervals.
