‡ SUN: Sunshine hours are calculated approximately from solar radiation readings and manual observation. The solar sensor has no exposure to direct sunlight before about 08.30 and after about 19.30 during this month so visual observation readings are also used for early morning and evening.

1st
LP 977 hPa deepening NW of Ireland. Mainly cloudy though with some short sunny spells. A rain shower at midday and a squally shower in mid-afternoon. Light rain/drizzle arrives shortly before midnight.
2nd
LP 978 hPa N Scotland. Light rain and drizzle continue overnight and becoming very windy from the early hours, with light drizzle through most of the morning. Staying overcast and rather dull in the afternoon until 17.00 when the cloud breaks to give some sunny spells in the evening.
3rd
A spell of rain, briefly quite heavy, from passage of a trough around 06.30. Clearing after 07.30 to give a day of sunny spells, some quite long from mid-afternoon..
4th
Early mist clearing by 07.00. Spells of sunshine in the morning but more cloudy in late morning. Cloud clears in the early afternoon to give long periods of sunshine.
5th
LP 988 hPa NW of Ireland, HP 1029 hPa Baltic Sea. A thunderstorm with an extremely heavy but short burst of rain around 06.30. Sky clears to give sunny spells and a very warm and humid morning. A little less warm and humid in the afternoon with more sunny spells.
6th
LP 995 hPa N of Scotland, HP 1031 hPa NE of Azores. A clear and sunny start to the day, plenty of fair weather cloud throughout the day but also rather long sunny spells.
7th
Another clear and sunny, slightly fresh start to the day, some long sunny spells through the day especially from late afternoon.
8th
HP 1042 hPa W of Ireland. Again a sunny start but with cloud developing in mid-morning. Sunny spells in the afternoon but becoming more cloudy around 16.00 and cooling quickly in the evening.
9th
Some early sunshine but becoming cloudy after 07.00. Occasional sunny intervals but overcast for a spell in the afternoon.
10th
A mainly cloudy morning with a couple of short sunny spells. Brighter after midday with the sky clearing in late afternoon to give a sunny period from 16.00 to sunset.
11th
A day of uninterrupted sunshine with just a few thin wisps of high cirrus cloud.
12th
A rather cloudy day, warm and humid, with some spells of hazy sunshine morning and afternoon. A thunderstorm with extremely heavy rain for a few minutes around 19.00.
13th
Overcast and dull in the morning, becoming a little less dull around midday. The cloud breaks in mid-afternoon to allow some short sunny spells with a sunny end to the day.
14th
An overcast and drab day, very gloomy at times with a little light drizzle around midday. Slightly brighter for a short time in late afternoon but the cloud does not break.
15th
Cloudy start to the day but breaks in the cloud appeat just before 11.00. Some long sunny spells developing in the afternoon and evening.
16 & 17th
A mixture of sunny and cloudy spells through the two days.
18th
A spell of light rain/drizzle in the early hours of the night. Sunny and cloudy spells in the morning. Lower level clouds clear early in the afternoon to give periods of sunshine although hazy at times with extensive higher level cloud later pushing in from the NW.
19th
Bright with some sunshine to start but cloud pushes down from the NNW to make most of the morning cloudy. Cloud gradually drifts eastward to give sme sunny spells from the middle of the afternoon.
20th
Some early brightness but becoming cloudy before 08.00 and staying overcast through much of the day. A spell of rain, heavy for a time, arrives around 19.00 from a cold front coming in from the NW, clearing by 20.30.
21st
A cloudy morning, brightening up near midday to give some sunny spells in the afternoon and evening.
22nd
Light rain and drizzle for much of the night and morning until 09.00 with a brief dry interlude. Heavier rain for a while near the middle of the day before it slowly clears from the west. Becoming brighter from mid afternoon with plenty of sunny intervals.
23rd
Sunny spells to start the day but becoming rather cloudy by 07.30. A few sunny intervals but mainly cloudy until late morning then a sunny spell before becoming cloudy again. Brighter once more in the evening with more sunny spells.
24th
A bright start but a band of cloud pushes across from the west before clearing in mid-morning. Sunny intervals at first with longer spells of sunshine developing from late morning. Cloudy again at the end of the day.
25th
Patchy high cloud is present throughout the day but despite this a warm day with sunny periods in both morning and afternoon.
26th
A rather cloudy but bright day with some short sunny spells and sunny intervals, rather breezy for a time in the afternoon.
27th
Sunny and clear for much of the early part of the morning. Cloud develops in mid and late morning but in spite of this there are some long sunny periods in the afternoon and evening.
28th
Some bright spells in the morning but becoming increasingly cloudy with a very brief fall light rain shower around 13.00. Staying cloudy in the afternoon but brightening in the late evening
29th
Hazy sunshine in the morning with extensive thin, high cloud. Cloud thickens for a short time before clearing to give a sunny afternoon and evening.
30th
Sunny without a cloud in the sky until near sunset.
