LP 983 hPa S of Iceland, W of Ireland, HP 1034 hPa SE France. An overcast and dull morning becoming brighter in the middle of the day with some sunny intervals in early afternoon. Becoming overcast again in late afternoon.
2nd
Overcast and dull with very light drizzle for a brief spell in mid morning. Sky clears a little around sunset.
3rd
LP 1004 hPa just S of Ireland moving NNE. Another mainly overcast and dull day but the sky clears a little in late afternoon to allow a brief glimpse of watery sunshine. Rain in late evening with a couple of short heavy bursts from cold front passage.
4th
Around 01.00 , passage of occluded front brings a very short but intense downpour from a squall line. A sunny and clear morning with cloud slowly moving across from the NW from early afternoon.
5th
LP 946 hPa "Storm Desmond" E of Iceland. Overcast, dull and windy.
6th
Winds slowly decreasing through the morning. An overcast and dull day with intermittent drizzle.
7th
LP 961 hPa S of Iceland, HP 1039 hPa Balkans. A cloudy start, becoming overcast and dull with a spell of drizzle in late morning. Sky clears in mid-afternoon to give a sunny spell.
8th
LP 955 hPa Iceland. Passage of cold front in the early hours brings a spell of rain followed by a spell of lighter rain during the rush hour. Cloud slowly clears from the west, but there is a rain shower in early afternoon before the sky clears to give a sunny spell in late afternoon.
9th
LP 981 hPa S of Iceland, HP 1041 hPa central France. A clear and sunny morning with a touch of ground frost. Patchy cloud develops and spreads in early afternoon allowing just sunny intervals for the rest of the day.

LP 956 hPa between Iceland and Norway, HP 1039 hPa Slovenia. A little rain just before sunrise, dull and overcast morning with a little light drizzle, dry in the afternoon but remaining overcast. A spell of rain in the early part of the night, fairly heavy for a while.

A little drizzle shortly after midnight; an overcast and very dull start to the day, becoming a little less gloomy for intervals in mid-morning and early afternoon. A short spell of light rain just after sunset.

A cool and calm night, quickly becoming much milder and windy as a warm front - which brings no rain - moves across from the south. There is a very brief glimpse of sunshine in the middle of the day but remaining overcast and rather dull for the most part.

LP 987 hPa NE of Azores. Drizzle/light rain during the night and light drizzle in the morning from very slow moving warm front. Overcast and very dull during daytime. Temperature rising very slowly through the day and early evening.
14th
Overcast and dull in the morning, brightening up for a spell in the middle of the day. Becoming overcast once more in the afternoon with a short spell of rain after dark. A second spell of rain in late evening.
15th
LP 981 hPa SW of Ireland, HP 1030 hPa southern Norway. A dull, dismal and damp day with intermittent drizzle in the morning and early afternoon. By sunset a band of persistent rain moves across from the SW lasting into the night.

HP 1033 hPa Central Spain. Rain continues overnight, light at first and briefly heavier in the early hours. A very cloudy day but with some small breaks in the cloud from time to time. Second mildest December day in site records after 10th December 1997.
17th
LP 964 hPa SSW of Iceland. An rather cloudy morning but the cloudbase is higher than previous days. A short spell of weak sunshine in the middle of the day. Equal mildest December day in site records with 10th December 1997. A short spell of light rain from cold front passage in early evening.
18th
Broken cloud at sunrise but becoming dull and overcast with some intermittemt light drizzle in mid morning. Some small breaks in the cloud in the middle of the day but the afternoon is another cloudy one.
19th
Broken cloud at sunrise, slowly clearing to give a sunny spell in late morning and around noon although there is high cloud to make the sunshine a little hazy. Cloud pushes in from the south from early afternoon. Despite a steady breeze, feeling very mild and this is the highest temperature on a December day in 31 years of site records. A little light rain at the starts and very end of the day.
20th
Broken cloud at sunrise, becoming more cloudy during the morning. Bands of showery rain move across from the SSW during the afternoon with some well spaced out short, heavy bursts.
21st
LP 969 hPa SSE of Iceland. A few rain showers in the night, heavy at times. A fine start to the morning with a spell of sunshine but soon becoming cloudy and then overcast by noon. Rain arrives from an occlusion from the west giving a rather wet and windy afternoon, and which clears just after 17.00.
22nd
LP 950 hPa SSE of Iceland. A few spells of rain: the first in the night, a second during rush-hour, a third in late morning and a fourth in the afternoon and into the evening and night. Very gloomy day and windy all night and day.
23rd
LP 974 hPa W of Ireland HP 1036 hPa Sicily. Light rain and drizzle dying out after midnight. Sunny and clear in the morning with clouds starting to appear after midday. More cloudy in the afternoon but still fine with some sunny intervals.
24th
LP 965 hPa Faroe Islands. A cloudy start to the day with rain arriving just after 11.00 from a cold front passage. Clearing after 13.30 to give a sunny spell with a brief rain shower later before the sky clears again near sunset.
25th
LP 1000 hPa SW of Ireland. Rather dull and overcast morning with light rain arriving from the south west around noon. Drizzle clears during the evening. The mildest Christmas Day at this site in 31 years of records.
26th
LP 1000 hPa SW of Ireland. Rather dull and overcast all day and very windy. Very mild night and day - the mildest Boxing Day at this site in 31 years of records.
27th
LP 981 hPa N of Azores at 50°N, HP 1036 hPa Northern Italy. An overcast and very dull day.
28th
HP 1039 hPa Central Sweden. A long period of sunshine in the morning despite patches of high cloud. The cloud thickens and spreads after midday to give a rather cloudy afternoon. Some light rain arrives from the west near midnight.
29th
LP 953 hPa "Frank" North Atlantic W of Ireland. Cloudy start, brightening up to give a little sunshine and a few rain showers, mostly in the morning as a trough passes from the west. A longer spell of sunshine in the afternoon.
30th
LP 933 hPa "Frank" just north of Ireland. Some light rain/drizzle during the night. A cloudy morning but brightening for a time to give a short spell of slightly weak sunshine in late morning. Becoming overcast in the afternoon with rain from a cold front arriving in the evening which is briefly heavy at times.
31st
LP 989 hPa "Frank" just east of Shetland. Rain continues overnight dying out around 01.00, with a rain shower around 05.00. A sunny and mainly clear morning but becoming cloudy for a time around the middle of the day. Another long sunny spell in early afternoon but more cloudy later. An occluded front brings a spell of heavy rain in the early evening, followed by a drop in temperature.
