LP 998 hPa S of Iceland & W of Ireland. A cloudy morning with only a brief glimpse of sunshine. Becoming overcast in the afternoon with some drizzle and very dull by early evening. Heavier rain arrives in the night from fronts oushing eastwards.
2nd
LP 987 hPa S of Iceland & W of Ireland. Rain during the night and rather heavy at times. Light rain and drizzle continue for much of the morning and into early afternoon. Staying overcast and dull for most of the day with just a very brief interlude of brightness.
3rd
LP 991 hPa NW of Donegal. A couple of light rain showers in the night. Dull and overcast to start the day but slowly brightening later with a couple of sunny intervals towards midday. A bright and breezy afternoon with some longer sunny spells.
4th
LP 998 hPa SW of Norway. Fairly bright day with some sunny intervals but very cloudy at times too. Two rain showers in the afternoon; the first brief and light, the second extrmely heavy for a few minutes then easing and lasting for around half an hour in late afternoon.

HP 1027 hPa Biscay. A bright day with some long sunny spells despite the presence of high and medium level cloud which is extensive at times.
6th
HP 1031 hPa Biscay. A sunny day with some build up of cloud in mid-morning but clearing to give a mainly clear and sunny afternoon.

LP 981 hPa Faroe Islands. A very cloudy morning, overcast and dull at times. Cloud starts to lift and clear in late morning giving way to a bright but breezy although humid afternoon with some long sunny spells.

LP 985 hPa SW Norway coast, HP 1037 hPa Mid-Atlantic. Sunny early on but cloud moves in from the NW just after 08.00. Some sunny spells, mainly in the morning/ early afterrnoon and much more cloudy by late afternoon and evening.

HP 1039 hPa mid-Atlantic at 50N, 20W. Sunny morning with some patchy cloud and sunny spells continue into early afternoon. Becoming more cloudy through the later part of the afternoon.

HP 1037 hPa mid-Atlantic at 50N, 20W. A cloudy morning with some sunny intervals. Brighter in the afternoon with some longer spells of sunshine.

LP 993 hPa Iceland, HP 1032 hPa W of Biscay. An overcast morning, a little dull at times, becoming brighter in mid-morning with a couple of sunny intervals by midday. Some short sunny spells in the afternoon but becoming overcast and rather dull again in late afternoon and early evening.

LP 999 hPa Shetland, HP 1028 hPa W Brittany. A sunny day with just a few short lived patches of cloud in mid-morning and early afternoon, breezy for a time in the afternoon.

A fine and sunny start with some thin high cloud. Overcast and slightly dull at times from late morning to mid-afternoon as a decaying front passes slowly across but clearing in late afternoon to give some more sunshine.

HP 1027 hPa Irish Sea. A cloudy morning, slowly brightening towards midday with sunny intervals in early afternoon and slightly longer spells of sunshine later.

HP 1027 hPa North Sea. A mainly sunny day with a few patches of cloud drifting in from the east now and again.

Sunny start but rather hazy with cloud moving across from the east by mid-morning. Staying bright with sunny intervals and longer spells of sunshine at times.

LP 1010 hPa WSW of Isles of Scilly, HP 1019 hPa North Sea. A sunny day although a little hazy at times with some small patches of cloud now and again.

LP 989 hPa Atlantic 50°N, 20°W. A very cloudy day, dull at times but nonetheless warm with a few sunny intervals in the middle of the day.

LP 977 hPa Atlantic W of Co. Kerry, Ireland. Overcast and dull with intermittent light rain in the morning, and further spells of rain in the afternoon. Cloud started to clear around 18.30 with a little sunshine breaking through.

LP 987 hPa SW Scotland. A bright and sunny start but becoming cloudy in mid-morning. A spell of very heavy rain and blustery winds as a trough and occluded front cross from the west in the middle of the day. Some lighter, short showers in the afternoon mixed with some sunny spells but still very windy.

LP 1002 hPa North Sea E of Scotland, HP 1027 hPa Biscay. Dull and overcast morning, starting to brighten after midday. Some sunny spells in the afternoon with wind easing but overcast again by evening with drizzle.

HP 1028 hPa Switzerland. Showery rain after sunrise clears by 09.00. Cloud breaks slowly to give some sunny intervals in late morning, then clearing away in the afternoon to give some longer sunny spells and a clear evening.

LP 986 hPa Atlantic at 55°N south of Iceland, HP 1028 hPa Azores ridging NE. Foggy in the morning with visisibilty below 200m, thinning to mist and clearing by 09.00. Sunny and almost cloudless for the remainder of the day.
24th
HP 1023 hPa S of Ireland and W of Brittany. Bright with sunny periods but sunshine is interrupted for spells in the morning and afternoon as large patches of cloud drift across. Highest temperature for the second half of August in the site records. A light and brief rain shower in late evening.
25th
Another day with sunny periods interrupted by patches of cloud for spells, mostly in the morning and fewer in the afternoon.
26th
A spell of rain in the early hours of the night. Bright but cloudy start with cloud thinning and moving away to give a long sunny period from mid-morning onwards.
27th
LP 1002 hPa SW of Ireland. A bright day with periods of sunshine but rather hazy with extensive high cloud as well as patches of lower cloud occasionally. Feeling very humid in the afternoon with severe thunderstorms affecting south central England.

LP 1009 hPa North Sea. A cloudy day with sunshine and brightness aminly confined to the morning. A brief rain shower in the afternoon and some intermittent light drizzle.
29th
Cloudy at times with some sunny spells, longest in the middle of the day.
30th
Foggy first thing with visibility down to 100m. Gradually thinning to mist and haze before clearing at 09.00. Sunny for most of the morning but large patches of cloud drift across in the middle of the day, then clearing to giv a mainly sunny afternoon and evening. Precipitation is from condensation from the fog.
31st
A mixture of sunny and cloudy spells with a long sunny spell in early afternoon.
